Yonder Alonso Hopes for a Good First Impression With His New Team
7 years agoCleveland Indians first baseman Yonder Alonso is hoping for a good first impression with his new team. Alonso and the Tribe agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with an $8 million vesting option for a third year this offseason. Alonso will be tasked with replacing Carlos Santana in the Indians lineup. Last season, split between the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners, Alonso slashed .266/.365/.501 with 28 home runs and 67 RBI. He's seemingly a good fit in the Indians lineup and will immediately play with a better lineup around him than he did at any point last season. Alonso is a solid but unspectacular ball player, and while he won't be the reason anyone wins a fantasy league in 2018, he won't be on too many last place teams either. He's a solid choice at first base for owners who prefer to draft other positions earlier on.
