Yan Gomes Not a Real Fantasy Option for 2018
7 years agoCleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes is coming off another poor offensive season in 2017 and doesn't seem like a strong catching option in most fantasy formats for 2018. Gomes slashed just .232/.309/.399 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI in 2017. He struggled even more in 2016, putting up a dismal .167/.201/.327 line. In fact, he hasn't been a useful offensive piece since the 2014 season. He's a solid defender, which keeps him in the lineup as the primary catcher, but he might start seeing less and less playing time if any of the Indians other catchers can put together any semblance of offensive production. Gomes is a decent enough "real life" player, but not at all someone recommended in fantasy leagues.
