Wilson Ramos Leaves Game Tuesday, Could Avoid DL
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos left the game Tuesday versus Boston with a contusion on his left hand. Original guesses were leery, but there is room for optimism. The hand is swollen, but Ramos is regaining feeling in it. He says that he was hit in a similar spot over the weekend and is confident he will avoid the disabled list. He now has six home runs and 22 RBI to go with a very fantasy friendly .288 batting average. His 2015 season was a success as he hit 22 HRs with 80 runs batted in and a .307 batting average over 131 games played. He has never been a major source of runs scored, but if he can stay healthy, he has the upside of a starter in most fantasy leagues. If you have the bench space, the smart play is to pair Ramos with a steady catcher. In the short term, Jesus Sucre will likely get some playing time.
