1 year agoKansas City Royals second baseman/outfielder Whit Merrifield is being inquired about by the Brewers, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. While KC is expected to be selling off any pieces they can this summer, Merrifield would likely be incredibly expensive since he's only 29 years old and still has three years of team control left. Merrifield was considered a backup/utility man until he broke out last season when he was given the starting job after top prospect Adalberto (then Raul) Mondesi botched the gig. He led the American League in stolen bases in 2017 and exploded for 19 home runs as well. While his power's dissipated, Merrifield already has 16 steals this season and is hitting .281 while logging time at four different positions.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
