Walker Jenkins 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: All-Around Fantasy-Friendly Skillset, Could Make Early-Season Debut
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins is a former fifth-overall draft selection and currently ranks as the organization's top prospect. He began last season as MLB's third-ranked prospect overall, but injuries have slowed his progression to the majors despite being just 21 years old. The 6-foot-3 slugger missed time in 2024 with quad and hamstring injuries, and last season he missed two months with an ankle sprain. He's since dropped to MLB's No. 14 prospect, but when on the field, the former first-rounder has been impressive. The left-handed hitter put together a .303/.410/.474 slash line with 17 home runs and 36 steals in 169 games up through Double-A. He made it to Triple-A in 2025, and after going 1-for-20 in his first six games, the North Carolina native got comfortable over the final 17 games, slashing .296/.351/.479. Jenkins has consistently shown the ability to put bat-to-ball, which is paired with a keen eye, having recorded a 16.0 percent K% and 13.5 percent BB% during his career in the minors. The 21-year-old's hardest hit ball in the small sample at Triple-A last year came off the bat at 110.1 mph, showcasing his power. With his ability to make contact, draw walks, and steal bases, Jenkins makes for an intriguing fantasy asset. Though he'll likely start the season at Triple-A, it may not be long until we see him with the Twins. Although he's not draftable in most standard-sized redraft leagues, the youngster is worth keeping an eye on so fantasy managers can scoop him off the waiver wire when he gets the call.
