Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 2022 Outlook - Elite Slugger Worth the Draft Cost
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a career year at the ripe age of 22. In his third Major League season, Vladitio bested his Hall of Fame father's career-high by swatting 48 home runs in a single campaign. He wasn't just an asset in the power category either, batting .311, crossing the plate 123 times, while driving in 111 runs. Guerrero Jr. was largely responsible for the Blue Jays' league-leading .466 slugging percentage and .340 wOBA but he was also supported throughout the lineup by bats like Bo Bichette, Teoscar Hernandez, George Springer, all of whom are returning. His spot in an elite offense, age, pedigree, and elite Statcast numbers all point to the definite possibility for a repeat in 2022. It's scary to think that we might not have seen the best of Guerrero yet, but the numbers don't lie. He ranked in the 97th percentile or higher in xBA, xSLG, average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate among other stats. He shouldn't fall outside the first round in fantasy drafts and his top-10 ADP will be completely justified.
