New Jersey Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek left Thursday's 4-3 overtime win against Ottawa early with an undisclosed injury. He headed off in the middle of the third period, giving up the crease to Akira Schmid. This could be a massive blow for the Devils, with MacKenzie Blackwood (knee) and Jonathan Bernier (hip) already on the shelf, although head coach Lindy Ruff has been quoted saying that he isn't concerned about Vanecek, so there's a chance that the Czech netminder isn't forced to miss any games at all. We should know more prior to Saturday's game against Arizona. The Devils have looked superb, and Vanecek has cruised to a 6-1-0 record. Blackwood is 4-2-0 for the year, with the team having won 11 of 12 games since starting the campaign with back-to-back defeats.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
