9 months agoSophomore Cup driver Ty Gibbs will start the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond from the eighth position. This starting position is the second time Gibbs will start from the Top 10 at Richmond and will be the fourth time this season Gibbs will start from the Top 10. In three Richmond starts, the driver of the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota has a best finish of ninth in last year's race. Gibbs is the most consistent driver of 2024 so far, as after six races, he is the only driver with five top-10 finishes and the best overall average finish (7.8). In practice as a part of Group A, which dealt with faster track conditions, Gibbs displayed speeds of sixth or better in all categories, including the fifth-best overall consecutive lap average. Although he only has one top-10 finish at the Cup Series level, Gibbs is a former Xfinity winner at Richmond and has top-notch equipment at JGR. Due to his overall consistency this season, it will not be a surprise to have Gibbs place in the Top 10 by the end of this week's race.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
