Two Home Runs Haunt Rick Porcello
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello took the loss on Saturday after allowing five runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking none against the Los Angeles Angels. After allowing a three-run bomb in the first inning, the right-hander retired the next 14 hitters he faced, until the sixth inning when he allowed a leadoff single followed by a Mike Trout two-run homer. Just some bad luck in an otherwise solid effort by Porcello. He's now 10-9 on the season with a 5.67 ERA and a 107/36 K/BB. Although his 4.92 FIP isn't good at all, it suggests he is just slightly unlucky. Porcello gets the Baltimore Orioles in his next start on Friday. It's a great matchup and certainly one he can be streamed in, despite his struggles this season.
