Troymaine Pope Snags TD On Sunday
5 years agoIn a rare opportunity, Los Angeles Chargers running back Troymaine Pope got the chance to see some offensive snaps when Justin Jackson wasn't able to go against the Dolphins. Pope was immediately integrated into the offense like he'd always been there, carrying the ball 10 times and grabbing both passes sent his way, one of which went for a touchdown. He wasn't terribly impressive on the ground, only tallying 20 yards on his carries, but he took some of the workload off the shoulders of Austin Ekeler. Pope's use moving forward will depend on health and availability of Melvin Gordon, Ekeler, and Jackson. It looks like Jackson may miss a couple weeks, but Gordon is expected to be fully active next week against the Broncos. If that's the case, Pope may be a one-hit wonder unless injuries raise their ugly head.
