6 years agoColorado Rockies catcher Tom Murphy carried the water on both sides of the ball on Sunday as he not only drilled a two-run home run that put Colorado in the lead, but he managed the game behind the plate well enough to help his pitching staff finish out the sweep over Oakland. Murphy's bat has always gotten him a lot of praise, but manager Bud Black was also singing about his defense on Sunday. If Murphy's defense can continue to improve like it has, he should easily take the reins in the three-headed monster the Rockies have been using behind the dish. He's also working on a three-game hitting streak that includes a double, a triple, and a home run. That never hurt anyone's case for additional playing time.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
