Tom Brady 2019 Outlook: Buyer Beware For Tom Terrific
6 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady continues defy the concepts of age and time. Brady's 2018 season included: his 10th 4,000-yard season, his 14th season of 25-plus touchdowns and, of course, his sixth Super Bowl. Brady has proven time and time again that he is, perhaps, the greatest quarterback of all time. But for fantasy owners, Brady will be one of the biggest buyer beware cases of 2019. The first statistic to keep in mind is that Brady finished 14th among quarterbacks in fantasy points last season. The 41-year-old threw for one or fewer touchdowns in eight games in 2018, including a five-game stretch when he only threw for four touchdowns. He also feasted on the lesser competition of his division, tossing 12 touchdowns to only two interceptions in four games against the Jets and Dolphins. It would be unwise to completely write Brady off for 2019 but fantasy owners need to draft him appropriately. Brady should certainly be drafted (albeit the later rounds) and will still put up some elite performances, especially against his own division. But ideally Brady is merely a matchup-based play at this point in his career and fantasy teams would be wise to roster two quarterbacks if Brady is drafted in 2019.
