Terry McLaurin 2021 Outlook: Consistent Playmaker Looking For More In Year Three
4 years agoWashington Football Team wide receiver Terry McLaurin was the model of consistency last season as he emerged as a bonafide WR1 for both fantasy managers and the Football Team alike. In his second NFL season, McLaurin had 87 receptions on 134 targets for 1,118 yards and four touchdowns. He caught at least seven passes in nine of 15 games and went over the 60-yard mark 11 times. McLaurin was at his best when Alex Smith was under center for Washington, as he was on pace for over 1,400 yards before his final four games, started by Dwayne Haskins and Taylor Heinicke. Inconsistent quarterback play has been a theme for McLaurin in his first two seasons but that could change in year three with Ryan Fitzpatrick wearing burgundy and gold. The veteran gunslinger has helped several wide receivers put up career years in recent seasons and his presence should only help McLaurin. Washington brought in Curtis Samuel this offseason, but McLaurin is the clear alpha-dog in this offense. He should be in line for at least 120 targets this season while being a matchup-proof WR who can be started every time he hits the field. Draft McLaurin with confidence as a top-12 receiver within the first three rounds of a 12-team league.
