The New England Patriots are releasing star defensive back Stephon Gilmore (quadriceps) Wednesday. He is eligible to come off the Physically Unable to Perform List after Week 6. The Patriots and Gilmore could not come to terms on a restructured contract and he was ultimately released. In the final year of his expiring contract, Gilmore had a $7 million base salary, and the Patriots were only $54,000 under the cap. The 31-year-old will look to latch onto another team. Gilmore racked up 30 tackles (30 solos, 7 assists), one interception, and one forced fumble over 11 games for New England in 2020. The 2019 Defensive Player of the Year should draw plenty of interest in the open market and sign with another team shortly. Stay tuned.--Brad Camara - RotoBallerRead More News
