Spencer Schwellenbach Picks Up First Career Win
6 months agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach picked up his first MLB win in a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Schwellenbach allowed one run on three hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking two in the win. The rookie hurler began the year at High-A Rome as Atlanta's No. 3 prospect but made a rapid ascent to the big leagues, making his debut back on May 29. Schwellenbach now has a 1-2 record, 4.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts over 21 2/3 innings of work spanning four big-league starts. While not a must-start when he's on the mound, Schwellenbach should be rostered moving forward.
