According to the team, the New Jersey Devils promoted defenseman Simon Nemec to the NHL roster. In a corresponding move, the team placed center Nico Hischier (upper body) on the injured reserve. Hischier has missed their previous four contests and will likely be sidelined through the international break. In addition, Nemec immediately joined the team during their morning skate on Thursday as defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler (undisclosed) is expected to miss the next two games as well. As a result, Nemec could find a spot in the starting lineup on Thursday evening when the Devils face the Golden Knights. While he has only tallied one point in nine NHL games this season, he has been impressive at the AHL level, tallying 22 points over 32 games.--Andy Smith
