Restricted free agent Shane Pinto has signed a one-year, league-minimum deal worth $777,000 with the Ottawa Senators. The 23-year-old was hit with a 41-game suspension for activities related to sports wagering and will serve the final game of that suspension on Saturday versus the Winnipeg Jets. The 2019 second-round pick registered 20 goals and 35 points while skating in all 82 games for the Senators as a rookie in the 2022-23 season. "It's just awesome, it's special," Pinto said on Jan. 12 when he returned to practice. "You kind of take it for granted, being around the team and how much the boys mean to you." Pinto and the Senators are believed to be in talks about a long-term contract with the team.--Brenton Kemp
