Serge Ibaka 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoToronto Raptors power forward/center Serge Ibaka had a resurgence of a season in 2018-19 within Nick Nurse’s system for the Raps. Ibaka saw his number’s spike to 15.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks but we did see his makes from deep take a step back which was better overall for his field-goal percentage and overall scoring. It needs to be noted that in the 22 games he suited up with Marc Gasol in the lineup, Ibaka did see his scoring dip to 12.1 points, but his rebounding increased to 9.1 a night with his blocks also spiking to 1.6 a night. Ibaka does have some off nights, but whether he is coming off the bench or starting, he still holds some mid to late-round value as he is still an above-average shot blocker and if he can maintain his above 50% shooting that he provided last season. Expect him and Gasol to continue to split time in the middle, but we may just see more lineups of Gasol/Ibaka as it showed some success in this past postseason.
