Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard (upper body) will return to work on Thursday against Edmonton. He is available for selection again after missing three games due to an upper-body injury. Girard has worked on the second defensive pairing for most of the campaign, producing 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) and 67 blocks in 42 games. The 26-year-old has some fantasy appeal, as Colorado also uses Girard on the power play, but he is far from a must-have player. Sam Malinski will be a healthy scratch on Thursday to make room for Girard in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk
