5 months agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Ryan Weber threw six innings of one-run ball, scattering just three hits, while striking out four and walking none in an 8-2 victory over Toronto Thursday. The 28-year-old made his first start as a Red Sox after making three relief appearances since being called up May 6. The only bout of trouble the righty endured was in the second when he allowed three straight hits to open the inning, including an RBI-double. However, Weber toughened up and got out of the inning without further damage. He was effective, simply by throwing 60 of 93 pitches for a strike, while he also had solid defense behind him. The Red Sox still await the return of Nathan Eovaldi to the rotation, so it's possible Weber's performance Thursday earned him the right to another start. The earliest that could happen would be Tuesday when the Sox host the Indians.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
