Ryan Weathers Receives Encouraging Diagnosis
Ryan Weathers (foot) could return by mid-August. Weathers was forced from Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies in the third inning after taking an ugly spill making a defensive play. The 21-year-old southpaw has been a pleasant surprise for the Friars, registering a 2.91 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 58 ⅔ innings (17 appearances, 11 starts). The rookie hasn't been dominant, evidenced by a modest 18 percent strikeout rate and 5.09 xERA, but he's done enough to merit streamer status in deeper formats. With an IL stint looming, Weathers can be dropped and reassessed for fantasy purposes as he emerges from rehab next month.
