With their second-round pick (55th overall), the Seattle Mariners selected pitching prospect Ryan Sloan out of York Community High School in Illinois. Sloan slipped past his 19th overall ranking, per MLB Pipeline, to land with Seattle. The 18-year-old was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Illinois with his ability to top his fastball out at 99 mph, to go along with advanced offspeed pitches, The 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-hander is committed to Wake Forest, but should he sign with the Mariners, he could quickly become one of their top arms in the farm system.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerRead More News
