Ryan Nugent-Hopkins signed an eight-year, $41 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers on June 29. The contract comes with an average annual salary of $5.125 million. He's coming off a season that saw him score 16 goals and tally 35 points in 52 games. The 28-year-old veteran of 10 NHL seasons had his best season back in 2018-19 when he recorded 69 points with 28 goals in 82 games. Nugent-Hopkins scored the fourth-most points on the Oilers squad this past season but no forwarded tallied more goals or points outside of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Edmonton is desperate for scoring depth beyond the first line and Nugent-Hopkins should handle left wing on the club's second line — but he'll need additional scoring and/or playmaking help to realize his full potential. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
