Baltimore Orioles first baseman/outfielder Ryan Mountcastle has been summoned to the Major League roster for the first time and will bat sixth Friday against Boston and right-hander Colten Brewer. Mountcastle, the club’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, mashed 61 extra-base hits while slashing .312/.344/.527 at Triple-A last season. Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Friday that Mountcastle would take on primarily an outfield role initially, but the plan is for him to become a full-time member of the Baltimore lineup. Those in deep season-long formats can be aggressive and nab Mountcastle off the wire, although others will want to give the 23-year-old some time to adjust to big league pitching.--Jesse Borek
