Ryan Mountcastle Earns Big League Callup, In Lineup Friday
Ryan Mountcastle has been summoned to the Major League roster for the first time and will bat sixth Friday against Boston and right-hander Colten Brewer. Mountcastle, the club’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, mashed 61 extra-base hits while slashing .312/.344/.527 at Triple-A last season. Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Friday that Mountcastle would take on primarily an outfield role initially, but the plan is for him to become a full-time member of the Baltimore lineup. Those in deep season-long formats can be aggressive and nab Mountcastle off the wire, although others will want to give the 23-year-old some time to adjust to big league pitching.
