Rudy Gay 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoSan Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay put together the most efficient season of his 879-game career last year in the silver and black. Gay posted a shooting split of .5054/.402/.816 added a career-high 6.8 rebounds and upped his scoring to 13.7 points night after averaging just 11.5 points in 2017-18. Gay is on the wrong side of 30 (33) and has played just an average of 52 games a year over his last three seasons. His defensive numbers have fallen off a cliff since his Achilles surgery, but with his uptick in efficiencies, he still holds some decent late-round value in category leagues. It would be nice to see him knock down more triples to up his value, but we know the Spurs system does rely much on the long ball. If you need some late-round scoring from someone who will not pull down your percentages, take a look at the proven veteran.
