Rory McIlroy will be skipping next week's first FedExCup playoff event in New Jersey. After a disappointing PGA Championship, the 29-year-old hinted that he would strongly consider bypassing the Northern Trust to work on his game and assess where he was at mentally. McIlroy is currently ranked 21st in the FedExCup standings and will return to action for the Dell Technologies Championship on August 31st. The withdrawal will make it slightly more difficult for McIlroy to win the FedExCup title but with three playoff events still on the horizon and the Ryder Cup to end the year, there is a lot of golf left to be played for McIlroy, and he needs to be both physically and mentally fit for the closing stretch of the season. --Spencer Aguiar - RotoBaller
