Ronald Acuna 2019 Outlook: Set To Be A Star In Second Season
6 years agoThe buzz surrounding Ronald Acuna entering last season was well responded to by the Braves outfielder, as he played in just 111 games, but finished with 26 home runs, 64 RBI, 16 steals and a .293/.366/.552 slash line en route to NL Rookie of the Year honors. All signs are pointing to the potential for a 40 home run, 30 stolen base season for the 21-year-old budding superstar in a full season of work. Acuna should continue to see pitches to hit with a spot in a lineup with protection from guys like Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies and Josh Donaldson. Points leagues are not as generous to Acuna owners, as his plate discipline is slacking at this point in his young career, as can be seen with his 25.3 percent strikeout percentage in 2018. If he can cut that rate down to 20 percent, he will have a good chance to improve on not only his batting average but his on-base percentage as well, as he did receive walks at an above average 9.2 percent of his at-bats. He is currently ranked as the sixth outfielder and 18th overall in the RotoBaller rankings. Acuna has his arrow pointing in the right direction, and this could be the last time for the next decade or so that he could potentially be drafted outside the first round. Scoop him up in your draft and reap the value of your pick.
