Robbie Ray Wins Despite Poor Outing
7 years agoDiamondbacks starter Robbie Ray picked up his first victory of 2018 despite a very poor outing. Ray surrendered seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks over five innings pitched. Just like Patrick Corbin before him, Ray was hurt by the long ball, as the three home runs accounted for all of the damage done against him. Through two games, the humidor doesn't seem to be stopping any offenses at Chase Field, as there have been 27 runs in two games. Everything that Ray detractors said through the offseason came to light in his first start this year. If Ray wants to repeat his breakout 2017, he will need to keep his decrease his BB% and HR% or he will have an ERA closer to four.
