Ricky Tiedemann Records Five Strikeouts
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann tossed three innings and allowed one hit, one run and two walks while striking out five on Thursday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates in Grapefruit League action. Tiedemann, 21, was competing for a rotation spot, but with Thursday's announcement that Bowden Francis has won the fifth spot in the rotation, Tiedemann will be ticketed to begin the year at Triple-A Buffalo. The right-hander is one of the best pitching prospects in the game but has been limited in his young career with the injury bug. In two seasons, the left-hander has a career 2.71 ERA with 199 strikeouts in 122 2/3 innings (33 starts), with his highest level being Triple-A. Tiedemann has risen through the system and should absolutely be an option for the Blue Jays in 2023. His talent is too much to hide on the farm, and a strong start on the farm might force the Blue Jays to bring his talent to the big leagues. With enormous strikeout potential, Tiedemann is worth stashing in redraft leagues and should be rostered in all dynasty leagues.
