Ricky Rubio 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoPhoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubio had a decent season in 2018-19, but it wasn't enough for the Jazz to remain interested in his services. Utah's loss could be a big gain for Phoenix, though. Rubio will start life in the desert after killing it at the World Cup. He was named the tournament's MVP after leading Spain to victory and averaging 16.4 points, six assists and 4.6 rebounds per game in 26.3 minutes. Putting points on the board used to be very difficult for Rubio, but he averaged a career-high 13.1 points in the NBA a couple of seasons ago and even shot over 35 percent from deep. Last year was a different story when he barely shot 40 percent from the field, but the performance at the World Cup should be a nice little confidence booster for him. Rubio has always been a very good playmaker, so if he can also be a regular scoring threat, then he'll make the Suns and plenty of fantasy owners happy. The skillful Spaniard had only 6.1 assists per game in 2018-19, but he played less than 28 minutes a night. He's still a guy who can hand out 10-plus assists and make it look easy.
