Rhamondre Stevenson 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Likely In A Committee, Role Murky In 2022
2 years agoNew England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson found a role in the team's offense, complimenting starter Damien Harris. He finished with 133 carries for 606 yards and five touchdowns to go along with 14 catches on 18 targets for 123 yards across 12 games in 2021 The 24-year-old's role in offense grew around Week 9, racking up 106 total yards on 12 touches. With Harris ruled out Week 10, the fourth-round pick erupted for 100 yards and two scores against the Cleveland Browns. Stevenson proved he could make an impact, and a running back having a vital role in his rookie season is unheard of under legendary head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots utilized Harris and Stevenson to wear down defenses, but what's in store for 2022. The Oklahoma product's outlook is unclear heading into this season. Harris is under contract for one more year. Long-time Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels is now the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, and the team brought in former New Giants head coach Joe Judge and former Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia. Patricia reportedly is the favorite to call offensive plays, which is a massive downgrade compared to McDaniels. PPR specialist James White is recovering from a significant hip injury and will be back to try to claim his role as the team's top passing back. The Patriots drafted running backs Pierre Strong in the fourth round and Kevin Harris in the sixth round to make New England's backfield cloudier. Stevenson is 41st among all running back in the latest Rotoballer rankings. Despite all the questions surrounding New England's backfield, he is worth a flier at his FFPC ADP of 112, as Stevenson will have a vital role in what's projected to be a run-heavy offense for the Patriots in 2022.
