Ramon Laureano Takes White-Hot Second Half Into Playoffs
5 years agoOakland Athletics outfielder Ramon Laureano will start and hit second against the Rays in the Wild Card play-in game on Wednesday. Few hitters have been as hot as Laureano in the second half, posting an eye-popping 1.090 in the second half of the season. He has raised his batting average 22 points during a 39-game stretch despite missing all of August due to injury. Since the All-Star break, Laureano is slashing .358/.411/.679 with 19 extra-base hits over his last 108 at-bats. He has hits in seven of his last eight starts and will be charged with jump-starting the A's offense from the two-spot in the lineup.
