Ramón Laureano 2023 MLB Player Outlook: Power/Speed Combination Supporting ADP
2 years agoIt didn't take Oakland Athletics outfielder Ramón Laureano long to get acclimated to the big leagues, as he hit .288 with 29 home runs and 20 stolen bases across 171 games between his first two seasons. However, injuries have hampered the A's center fielder of late as he's appeared in just 182 games over the last two seasons, albeit with 27 HR and 23 SB in that time. Laureano is coming off his worst season to date in 2022, as his wRC+ of 96 fell below the league average, and his .211 batting average was also a career-low. While many of his metrics supported a down year, there's plenty of bounce-back upside with a power and speed combination providing the base. It's important to note that Laureano still ranked in the league's 82nd percentile in barrel rate, and while he slipped to the 56th percentile in sprint speed -- a career-low -- he still swiped 11 bases in 94 games. With Steamer projecting a 22 HR, 17 SB season across 139 games, Laureano's ADP of 218 seems reasonable. His counting stats could take a hit as the A's roster purge has decimated their offense, but Laureano's solid foundation remains a worthwhile investment at his current ADP.
