Raimel Tapia Continues Blistering May
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia took one deep against San Diego on Mother's Day, continuing a monster of a month. Tapia is now hitting .313 with five home runs for the season, but a lot of that is precipitated by a ridiculous .419 average in the month of May. His OPS of 1.261 is by far the best of his career, and he's recorded at least one extra-base hit in six of the seven games he's started this month. Tapia had seen an increase in playing time to allow Ian Desmond more time to rest, but Desmond's bat has also come around. The good news is that Desmond is crediting the increased rest as part of the reason he's improved, so hopefully, manager Bud Black won't rock the boat and will continue the platoon. If Tapia can keep regular at-bats, he's certainly worth owning for now.
