Pierre Garcon 2019 Outlook: Au Revior
6 years agoComing off a serious neck injury in 2017 it was assumed Garcon would have a big role in San Francisco if he was healthy in 2018. Once again he was not healthy and therefore he didn’t. In eight games before his season ended prematurely, Garcon caught only 24 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown. This offseason he was released and has yet to find a team willing to take another chance on him.
This makes sense as his best seasons have come under Kyle Shanahan, the coach who just released him. The writing is on the wall and it is not good for the soon to be 33-year old receiver. Coming from a small town in New York and ending up in the NFL after playing at division three powerhouse Mt. Union is an accomplishment in itself. To last as long as he did is a gift. One I am sure he will never forget. But this does nothing for his fantasy value for our purposes. For these purposes, he is a no go. Even if he finds his way onto a team it will be more for a training camp body than it is a legitimate role in an offense. Don't was a draft pick on him. In fact, don’t even bother looking to see if he is still listed on draft boards. I mean even if he is, so are Calvin Johnson and Demarco Murray.
