Phil Mickelson In Contention At Safeway Open
6 years agoPhil Mickelson sits just three shots back of leader Brandt Snedeker through 36 holes at the Safeway Open. Mickelson followed an impressive opening-round 65 with a solid 69 in Friday's second round to reach 10-under par. This performance comes as a surprise from the veteran that struggled terribly down the stretch of the PGA Tour season. "Lefty" was also a non-factor for the losing U.S. team at the recent Ryder Cup, going winless in Paris. Mickelson entered the week with a solid track record at Silverado North, having logged consecutive top-10's in the last two Safeway events.
