Peter Lambert Sets Franchise Record In Debut
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Peter Lambert set a new franchise record by striking out nine batters in his major league debut against the Cubs on Thursday. Lambert tossed seven innings of one-run ball while allowing just four hits and walking one as he nailed down a win for the Rockies. Lambert was considered a top-five organizational prospect before the season, but his performance at Triple-A this season hadn't been terribly impressive, racking up a 5.07 ERA and striking out just 7.61 batters per nine innings. That said, the Pacific Coast League is going through a massive hitting upswing, so perhaps he'll be able to have some extended success in the majors. This was a great first step, and he should be tasked with facing the Cubs again, but this time at home, next week.
