Peter Lambert Rocked Again By Dodgers
5 years agoColorado Rockies rookie starting pitcher Peter Lambert had to face division-leading LA again on Monday, and he got lit up worse than ever before. Lambert has faced the Dodgers three times this year, and this was the worst appearance by far. Lambert was chased after just 1 2/3 innings, allowing six earned runs in the process. Lambert was far from the only Rockies pitcher to get hit hard by the Dodgers this time around, but he got saddled with the loss in the lopsided game. He also allowed just one of their seven home runs in the contest. Lambert was considered a top pitching prospect when he was coming up, but he had previously struggled in Triple-A, carrying a 5.05 ERA over the course of 22 starts. Now, unsurprisingly, he's struggled mightily in the majors, holding on to a 7.19 ERA in 16 starts. Manager Bud Black said the team is considering whether additional major league starts are the right approach for the 22-year-old's development, but it's not clear whether he should even be in Triple-A at this point, no matter how much the team wants him to progress quickly.
