Pete Fairbanks Earns Clean 12th Save Monday
6 months agoTampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks picked up his 12th save of the season in Monday's 4-3 win over the Mariners. Fairbanks came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one and delivered a 1-2-3 appearance with two strikeouts. The 30-year-old has missed some time due to various injuries but has still been an effective fantasy option, converting all but two save opportunities with a 3.25 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a 26.5% strikeout rate in 27 2/3 innings of work. Fairbanks still has time to get his ERA down and his strikeouts up, and he should still be a reliable fantasy option if his numbers stay closer to where they are now. The Rays aren't as strong of a team as they have been, but Fairbanks should see plenty of save opportunities as long as he stays healthy.
