Paul Skenes Strikes Out Eight In No-Decision
6 months agoPittsburgh Pirates starter Paul Skenes allowed one run on six hits in seven innings of work during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. He struck out eight batters and issued one walk. The only damage against Skenes came on the first pitch of the game as Yandy Diaz took him deep for a leadoff solo shot. It was the third straight quality start for Skenes and his sixth of the season. The 22-year-old has looked like a bonafide ace every step of the way in 2024. He now owns a 2.14 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 61:8 K:BB through 46 1/3 innings. He is a must-start option anytime he takes the mound and projects to face the Atlanta Braves his next time out.
