Paul Sewald Earns His Second Save On Monday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Paul Sewald converted his second save of the season on Monday. He closed out the team's 7-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics, pitching a scoreless ninth inning during which he allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout. Sewald is 2-for-3 on save opportunities on the year with a 2.40 ERA and a 0.53 WHIP. The Mariners have been operating with a frustrating committee approach this season. Sewald is now tied with both Drew Steckenrider and Diego Castillo for the team lead in saves. It seems as if all three relievers should continue to earn save chances going forward.
