Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has announced that he is retiring from hockey. The Bruins captain made the announcement a day after celebrating his 38th birthday. Bergeron, who is widely regarded as one of the best two-way forwards in NHL history, is retiring after playing 19 seasons in the NHL. He spent all of his career with the Bruins, posting 427 goals and 1,040 points in 1,294 regular-season games. Bergeron won the Stanley Cup with the club in 2011 and also racked up plenty of personal accolades, including a league-record six Selke Trophy wins.
