2 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 30 saves in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against Nashville, ending a brief two-game losing run. The 2019 Vezina Trophy winner had allowed four goals in back-to-back starts before returning to form against the Predators. He now owns a 10-7-1 record for the season with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Four of the losses came early into the season, so Vasilevskiy has steadily improved his form, but in all likelihood, he won't be able to match his last year's goals-against average (2.40) and save percentage (.925).--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov posted a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime victory at Nashville, stretching his point streak to six games. Ondrej Palat and Victor Hedman also scored, Steven Stamkos had two assists. Kucherov, who notched the game-winner in OT, has seemingly regained his MVP-form, averaging two points per game during his current streak. He became the 15th player this season to reach the 30-point mark. The Russian been by far the most productive forward in the team, with Stamkos sitting on only 22 points. The Bolts captain ended a four-game point drought on Tuesday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoNew York Islanders center Mathew Barzal scored late in the third period of Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. The slick 22-year-old has produced points in each of his last three games. Barzal is now up to 11 goals, 13 assists, and 53 shots through 26 games this year. Unfortunately, the Islanders power play sits 19th in the league, and Barzal only has four power-play points to show for it. Nevertheless, the young star is a top-tier fantasy asset that is the maestro of the Islanders offense. Start him without hesitation every time he takes the ice.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

2 weeks agoFlorida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota, where the team blew a 2-0 lead. Aleksander Barkov also scored for the Cats, who looked set for another victory after a great opening period, but Minny completely turned the game on its head and eventually skated away with their fourth straight win. Huberdeau now has 10 multi-point performances for the season, although he's been a bit cold in the team's most recent games, finishing pointless three times across the last five matches. He gets a nice matchup next to build on the momentum, as Florida will be hosting the Blue Jackets, who are giving up 3.64 goals per game on the road this season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoMinnesota Wild goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen made it two wins in two career appearances on Tuesday, saving 44 of 46 shots in a 4-2 victory at Florida. It's the most saves by a Wild rookie goaltender in a game in franchise history. Jason Zucker, Mats Zuccarello, Carson Soucy, and Luke Kunin took care of the offense. It's been a great story with Kahkonen so far, with him posting a .950 save percentage and 76 total saves through his first two career starts. Devan Dubnyk (personal) is away from the team, so there's a good chance Kahkonen can go for a hat trick of victories against Tampa on Thursday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoMontreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher scored an even-strength goal and added an assist during Tuesday's 4-2 win over the New York Islanders. The 27-year-old has 11 goals, 10 assists, and 106 shots through 28 games this season. Gallagher has scored 30 goals in each of the past two seasons, and he is on pace to hit that mark again in the 2019-20 campaign. He has blossomed into a reliable fantasy asset that is deserving of ownership in all formats. Shea Weber and Phillip Danault also picked up two points each in the contest. The Canadiens are back in action on Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

2 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils right wing Kyle Palmieri scored his 10th goal of the season and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Vegas, which ended John Hynes' reign as the team's head coach. Damon Severson also enjoyed a multi-point performance by dishing out two assists. The Devils have been a mess all season, and whoever replaces Hynes has their work cut out, but at least he can count on an in-form Palmieri. The 28-year-old winger has points in eight of the last 10 games, taking his tally to 18 points for the year. Only Taylor Hall (22) has managed more for the Devils this season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoBoston Bruins center Charlie Coyle scored an even-strength goal during Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The 27-year-old gave his team the lead with just 4:05 remaining in regulation. Coyle has had a productive start to the year for the Bruins, tallying six goals, 10 assists, and 58 shots through 28 games. The former first-round pick is centering the team's second line and second power-play unit with Patrice Bergeron (lower body) sidelined. Coyle has become a valuable asset in deeper league formats. The Bruins are back in action on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

2 weeks agoVegas Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault took over Tuesday's matchup against New Jersey in the third, potting a natural hat trick and leading the team to a 4-3 victory. The Knights were down 2-1 before Marchessault started his show. Chandler Stephenson also scored for Vegas in the contest, Alex Tuch had three assists and Reilly Smith picked up two helpers. Marchessault hadn't scored since Nov. 16, and he only has eight goals for the season, so his finishing has let him down big time in 2019-20. However, his longest point drought has been four games this season, so he's actually been a pretty consistent performer. Marchessault is currently on a three-game point streak, and the team is playing much better as of late as well, winning four on the bounce.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:
2 weeks agoBoston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak stopped all 24 shots that came his way during Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Slovakian netminder has been stellar for the Bruins to start the season. He owns a 7-1-3 record to go along with a 2.14 goals-against average and .934 save percentage. Halak has been fantastic since joining the Bruins last year, and the trend is continuing to start the 2019-20 campaign. In supremely deep leagues, Halak is worthy of a roster spot himself. Aside from that, he is a top-tier streaming option in all other formats. --Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

2 weeks agoCleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson remained in double-double form in Tuesday's loss to Detroit, notching 10 points and 14 rebounds. Thompson shot only 4-for-11 from the field, so it was a bit of a struggle for him offensively, but almost everybody on the team had an off night, including Kevin Love, who managed just eight points The 28-year-old center now has 12 double-doubles for the season in 19 games, only eight players have managed more. The Cavs continue their season on Friday against Orlando, who have done a good job against opposing centers overall, but who didn't have an answer to Thompson in the two previous meetings this season. The Cavaliers center picked up a double-double in both matches, averaging 14.5 points and 13 rebounds.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoCleveland Cavaliers point guard Collin Sexton was the only bright spot for the team in Tuesday's blowout loss to Detroit, scoring a team-high 22 points on good 8-for-16 efficiency. He also had four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. The second-year guard is averaging only 2.5 assists for the season, but he's done a much better job moving the ball in recent outings, upping his average output to 4.7 assists across the last three games. He was the team's biggest offensive threat on Tuesday even with Kevin Love playing. There's a good matchup next for Sexton against the Magic, who tend to struggle against point guards. The Cavs guard has averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists against them in two previous matchups this season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDetroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose had a decent revenge game against the Cavs on Tuesday, recording 12 points and nine assists in 22 minutes off the bench. He missed both attempts from three-point range but scored well overall by going 6-for-12 from the field. Rose now has 19 assists across the last two games after dishing out only 28 dimes in his previous six outings. The former MVP has also only played 39 total minutes in the last couple of games, so he should be ready to go Wednesday night against Milwaukee. Rose delivered 20 points in 26 minutes in the first meeting of the season against the Bucks.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDetroit Pistons center Andre Drummond did it all in Tuesday's 127-94 win over Cleveland, racking up 17 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, four blocks, and four assists. He shot 7-for-15 from the field and even managed a decent efficiency at the line by going 3-for-4. Drummond's scoring has been a bit down over the last 10 games, but his fantasy value remains high thanks to his ability to contribute in multiple categories. The 26-year-old center gets a very juicy matchup on Wednesday against the Bucks, who have been slaughtered by centers more than a few times in recent years. Drummond posted a 12-point, 17-rebound double-double in the first matchup of the season against them, adding four assists and two steals.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDetroit Pistons power forward Blake Griffin had one of his better offensive games of the season on Tuesday, scoring 24 points in 24 minutes against Cleveland. He shot 8-for-13 from the field and looked like Reggie Miller from downtown, finishing with a 6-for-7 record. Sadly for fantasy owner, Griffin didn't do much else, and his minutes were limited as the game turned into a blowout. The Pistons are back on the court on Wednesday against Milwaukee, and after sitting out the fourth quarter on Tuesday, Griffin might actually play in both games of a back-to-back set. However, it's not a good matchup for him against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the rest of the gang. The Bucks boast a league-best 101.9 defensive rating.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoWashington Wizards guard Bradley Beal connected on 16 of 30 shooting to record 42 points for his undermanned squad on Tuesday in the seven-point loss to the Magic. Beal connected on three makes from downtown and added six boards with four assists and a steal across 42 minutes of action. Beal will see his usage take a nice uptick with Thomas Bryant (foot) expected to miss at least three weeks and he continues to provide top-10 numbers with there being no signs of the Wizards looking to give their stud any time off. 2 weeks agoWashington Wizards point guard Isaiah Thomas provided a full line in the loss to the Magic on Tuesday. Thomas scored a season-high 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting which included two makes from three while adding seven assists with five rebounds and a steal while even adding a block in 34 minutes of action, which was a season-high. The Wizards are short-handed and this should benefit Thomas for the near future. Bertans hit seven of 16 shots overall and added five rebounds with a steal and two blocks in 40 minutes of action. With Thomas Bryant (foot) expected to miss at least three weeks, Bertans needs to be owned everywhere, especially in category leagues, where he is a three-point monster.--Gianni Costantiello - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoOrlando Magic shooting guard/small forward Evan Fournier recorded 30-plus points for the third time in four games on Tuesday when he torched the Wizards for 31 points in the win. Fournier connected on an efficient 11 of 18 shooting overall which included six triples while also chipping in three assists with two rebounds while committing just a single turnover in 35 minutes of action. Fournier is on a tear and over his last 12 games is posting 23.4 points, 3.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 3.6 triples while shooting 50.5% from the floor in that span. He is smoking hot and owners who selected him to have to be quite proud at the moment.--Gianni Costantiello - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Fultz has been rolling and over his last five games is posting 16.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 52.3% from the floor in that span. 2 weeks agoNew Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball had a miserable shooting night against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Ball made two of his 12 shots and was held to six points, six rebounds and three assists. Lonzo is now shooting below 40% for the season, and fantasy owners will need him to contribute in other categories to make up for his inefficiency in the shooting ones. Unfortunately, that is not the case, as he is averaging below his career average in rebounds, assists and steals so far this year. Ball will need to turn it around soon because Zion Williamson's return is on the horizon, and that means Ball will lose touches in the Pelicans offense. He is still rostered in over 70% of ESPN leagues, but that number could plummet if his early season struggles continue.--Euan Leith - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoNew Orleans Pelicans small forward Brandon Ingram had a quiet night compared to the lofty standards he has set for himself this season. In Tuesday night's 118-97 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Ingram had 24 points, six assists, five rebounds, three steals and one block. That these numbers are normal for Ingram now speak to the leap he has taken since he turned over a new leaf of his career in New Orleans. He now has 11 straight games of at least 20 points. Ingram has two games remaining in Week 7 against the Phoenix Suns before a rematch with Dallas. Start him in all formats and do not think of selling him unless the return is a top-15 fantasy basketball player.--Euan Leith - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDallas Mavericks power forward Kristaps Porzingis was extremely ineffective for fantasy teams on Tuesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Latvian unicorn was held to 2-for-11 shooting on the night, and that resulted in a box score of seven points, six rebounds and one assist. He tried his best to salvage his fantasy night on the defensive end with a season-high five blocks, but owners will be wondering what went wrong for Porzingis in the offensive categories. He's averaging less than 10 points per game in his last four contests, including a two-point, 0-for-8 performance just three games ago. Porzingis has been inconsistent throughout the season and he may be still adjusting back to the NBA grind after missing 20 months of action due to his injury in 2018. Fantasy managers should continue to ride the wave, as the highs can be extremely high to combat these lowest of low stretches.--Euan Leith - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDallas Mavericks shooting guard Seth Curry did his best Steph impression on Tuesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Seth hit five of his seven three-point attempts and finished with a season-high 19 points in the 118-97 win. He also added four rebounds and one assist for good measure. Curry is a one-trick pony, but that trick hasn't been very impressive this year, as he is hitting just 36.9% of his three-point attempts, which is well below his 43.3% career average. The five threes he hit on Tuesday were a season high as well, so maybe this game will get him going, but fantasy managers hoping for him to be a strong candidate from behind the arc have been fairly disappointed so far this season.--Euan Leith - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoDallas Mavericks small forward Luka Doncic had 33 points, 18 rebounds and five assists against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. Coming off being named the Player of the Month for November, Doncic has not slowed down. The 18 rebounds were a season high, and he did it in just 28 minutes. People were high on Doncic coming into the season, but the numbers he is putting up are mind-blowing. Fantasy managers that bought into the hype should be sitting at or near the top of their league standings and looking forward to Doncic carrying them for a majority of the season. The Doncic express is a one-way ticket to fantasy glory, and the next stop on the tour is a Wednesday night outing against the Minnesota Timberwolves.--Euan Leith - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoThe Toronto Blue Jays are interested in starting pitchers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dallas Keuchel, among other free-agent starters. It's no secret that Toronto is in need of improving their starting rotation, but they won't shop at the top of the market for arms like Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg. Ryu was one of the best starters in the game last year, going 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 163 K's in 182 2/3 innings (29 starts) for the Dodgers. Keuchel signed late with Atlanta and was decent with an 8-8 record, 3.75 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 112 2/3 frames (19 starts). Ryu is the higher-upside arm if he's healthy, but both pitchers would face bigger challenges in the tough American League East and in hitter-friendly Toronto.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB Network - Jon Paul Morosi

2 weeks agoAt least one of the teams engaged with the Milwaukee Brewers regarding closer Josh Hader is convinced that the Brewers will keep the left-handed reliever heading into the 2020 season. Milwaukee is rightfully asking for a king's ransom for the best left-handed reliever in the game, but it's still possible a desperate team gives up the farm for him. Hader, still only 25, had a 2.62 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 37 saves and a career-high 16.4 K/9 in 75 2/3 innings last season. The only negative thing about Hader is that he's already tossed 204 2/3 innings in his three seasons with Milwaukee as a workhorse bullpen arm. No matter where he's pitching next year, he'll be an elite fantasy closer with tremendous strikeout upside.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - Buster Olney

2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams (ribs) has a chance to play in Week 14 against the Patriots despite the team signing running back Spencer Ware on Tuesday. Ware will be an emergency option with Darrel Williams (hamstring) a long shot to play this Sunday. Damien Williams missed Week 13 coming out of the Week 12 bye, so you shouldn't be counting on having him for the first round of the fantasy playoffs. Even if Williams does play, he'll likely lose valuable touches to both LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson. If Damien is inactive again, Thompson would have clear flex appeal in deeper leagues after outproducing Shady in the win over the Raiders.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher
