2 weeks agoKeegan Bradley keeps playing well enough to contend. For the American golfer, that nearly paid off at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Bradley finished in a tie for second with none other than Scottie Scheffler. That is not bad company as Bradley notched his second runner-up of 2024 and his sixth Top 10 result. Bradley does so many things well except for putting at times. Overall, he ranks 147th on tour in strokes gained for putting. However, he averages 4.16 birdies per round which ranks a solid 30th. The last four years have seen a winning score average of 277.5. Bradley can be a good DFS play potentially.

2 weeks agoSi Woo Kim had made 13 straight cuts heading to the PGA Championship. The Korean golfer could not make many birdies at Valhalla. Then, Kim could not get going at the Charles Schwab classic He struggled and then fired a nasty 75 on Sunday to drop out of the Top 50. For as consistent as Kim has been (9 Top 25 results), the past couple of tournaments have been rough to stomach. That dropped his overall strokes gained to putting down to 167th on tour at -0.518. The expectation is that Kim thrives at Muirfield Village where he finished fourth in 2023.

2 weeks agoTom Kim did not have the best start to 2024. The Korean golfer had to withdraw from The Players Championship. However, he has come back the past couple of months stronger. Kim has three straight Top 30 results including a T-4 at last week's RBC Canadian Open. The golfer shot 65-64 over the weekend to get into contention as his putter heated up. Though Kim has mostly been average in major metrics this year, his 13 birdies drew the notice of a few pundits. Kim has three career wins including the 2022 Wyndham Championship.

2 weeks agoSince his tie for ninth at The Masters, Cameron Young has been riding the struggle bus in almost every facet of his game besides his typical struggling putter of all things. He has lost strokes around the green and on approach in three of his last four starts, and going right along with that is a short and disappointing history at Muirfield Village that features a missed cut and a T60 in his only two appearances (Averaging -2.89 strokes gained putting over those two starts). At $10,000 on FanDuel, leaving Young out of your DFS and betting cards this week is a no-brainer.

2 weeks agoScottie Scheffler took a break last week after tying for second place at the Charles Schwab Challenge two weeks ago. This week, he will compete in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. In last year's edition, Scheffler finished third; in 2021, he also finished third. Muirfield Village has smaller than average green complexes, so hitting greens will be vital. It's noteworthy that Scheffler ranks in the 98th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway over the previous 12 months. Considering his recent form and past success at the Memorial Tournament, Scheffler could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

2 weeks agoRussell Henley is no stranger to Jack's place, as the PGA Tour journeyman has played an event here eight times between this tournament and the one-off event played here on back-to-back weeks in 2020. His performances have been everywhere on the spectrum with only three missed cuts, though he's never cracked the top five. The biggest letdown comes from his play off the tee (102nd in strokes gained off the tee: -0.011), but Muirfield tends to play more for accuracy over length, which should mean good things for Henley (ranked 7th in driving accuracy: 74.05%). Be prepared to eat some chalk on the ownership levels for a guy priced less than $10k on FanDuel due to his great recent form, but it should be worth it in the end.

2 weeks agoThings are starting to come together for Byeong Hun An as he makes a ninth career start at this famed event hosted by the Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus. He has been feast or famine over his time at Muirfield Village, having never finished outside the top 25 when making the cut. Simply put, when An is in good form, he has performed well here. He is coming off a disappointing T43 finish at the PGA Championship where he never seemed to get any putts to fall, but the two events prior were narrow misses from the South Korean to get his first career win. Over the last 12 rounds played, Benny An ranks 6th in strokes gained putting (+11.36) and 15th in strokes gained off the tee (+6.31) in this week's field. At $10,100, he has a tremendous amount of upside to lean into as a DFS commodity.

2 weeks agoConsidering Sahith Theegala's bizarre performance dips in both putting and ball striking, they never seem to occur at the more demanding courses. Aside from a T45 finish at Augusta, he has finished inside the top 15 at Harbour Town, TPC Sawgrass, Bay Hill, and Valhalla this season. From a statistical perspective, Theegala ranks 13th in strokes gained putting (+0.592), 22nd in strokes gained off the tee (+0.429), and 30th in strokes gained on approach (+0.406). He has made the cut at Jack's place in all three career appearances with a T5 (2022) as his best finish. At $10,500 on FanDuel, the Pepperdine product is poised to have another solid week.

2 weeks agoJustin Thomas has put together a decent string of good finishes over his last three events (T8, T21, T5) since missing the cut at The Masters. Compared to the field this week at Muirfield Village, over the last 12 rounds played by every competitor, JT is ranked second in strokes gained around the green (+8.47), 11th in strokes gained off the tee (+7.07), and 26th in strokes gained on approach (+6.17). Success will be earned or lost with the flat stick for Thomas, and things have not been pretty for most of the season as he ranks 159th in strokes gained putting (-0.447). His relationship with the greens at Jack's place has been volatile at best. More importantly, when things have gone crooked with the putter this season, they've gone completely sideways, and as the eighth-most expensive option this week in both DraftKings and FanDuel, the risk may not be worth the reward because of it.

2 weeks agoFor Viktor Hovland, 2024 hasn't been as fruitful as last season when the 26-year-old won three times, including back-to-back victories to close the year and win the FedEx Cup. Most of it can be traced back to the odd shuffling of coaches since then, however, having returned to former instructor Joe Mayo has seen a quick shift in Hovland's game with a scare at the PGA Championship a few weeks ago. At Valhalla, he ranked fifth in strokes gained on approach (+1.66) and seventh in strokes gained off the tee (+1.14). The struggle remains with chipping for the Norwegian, as the year's second major was the first time he gained strokes around the green all season. That sore spot is enough to have cause for concern when considering him for fantasy lineups at $11,200 on FanDuel, but things seem to be going in the right direction now for anyone wanting to take on a little risk.

3 weeks agoThe 2023 RBC Canadian Open produced one of the best finishes in recent golf memory, as Nick Taylor sank a 72-foot put to defeat Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff to become the first Canadian to win his national open in 69 years. Corey Conners will be looking to make it back-to-back Canadian winners this week. The 32-year-old and current No. 49-ranked golfer in the world heads to Hamilton Golf in Country Club in solid form, having posted six finishes inside of the top 25 in his 14 starts this calendar year. He also hasn't missed a cut since the U.S. Open in June of 2023 and should be a solid course fit at Colonial Golf and Country Club. Over the last 24 rounds, he ranks first in overall approach, 19th in greens-in-regulation percentage, 26th in par-three scoring and 27th in par-four scoring. If Conners can stay out of trouble off the tee, fantasy managers should expect to see a top-25 finish with winning upside.

3 weeks agoTommy Fleetwood heads to Hamilton Golf and Country Club seeking his first PGA Tour victory. The 33-year old Brit does have eight international victories to his name, including earlier this year at the Dubai Invitational, and he's certainly been knocking on the door over the past several months. He's only missed one cut in 10 Tour starts this year, with three finishes inside of the top-10, including a T3 showing at the Masters. Fleetwood also apparently has an affinity for the RBC Canadian Open, as he finished in sixth place in 2018's event and runner-up in 2023's rendition. His game should translate well at Hamilton, as he ranks inside of the top-10 in a number of key statistical categories over the last 24 rounds, including driving accuracy, fairways gained, scrambling, bogey avoidance, and par 4 scoring. A spike putting week could put Fleetwood in the driver's seat heading down the stretch on Sunday.

3 weeks agoAaron Rai is starting to knock on the door for his first PGA Tour victory. The 29-year-old Brit has posted two top-10 finishes in the past two months, most recently with his T4 performance at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson earlier this month. He enters Hamilton Golf and Country Club on the heels of three-straight made cuts, all events which saw him gain over six strokes from tee-to-green. Rai should be an excellent course fit as well, as he ranks 10th in driving accuracy, fourth in fairways gained, fourth on overall approach, fifth in scrambling, and fourth in bogey avoidance over the last 24 rounds. Perhaps more importantly, he finished T13 at this event in 2022 and followed that up with a T3 result last year. Fantasy managers choosing to invest in Rai this week should reasonably expect another top-20 finish, and with a spike putting week, perhaps his first PGA Tour win.

3 weeks agoMackenzie Hughes is one of the few golfers in the field with reasonable expectations to make it back-to-back Canadian winners at the RBC Canadian Open this week. The two-time PGA Tour winner does have four top-10 finishes so far in the 2023-2024 season, with his most recent one coming as a T6 at the Wells Fargo Championship two starts ago. He's also performed well in previous renditions of this tournament, having made the cut in four out of five starts with a T14 showing when the event was played at Hamilton Golf in Country Club in 2019. Hughes' enters the week with the fourth-best adjusted course fit over the last 24 rounds, and his elite short game will come in handy with a low greens-in-regulation expected this week. At a mere $8,300 price tag on DraftKings, Hughes projects as a low-owned leverage option with high-upside and win equity this week.
