Ozzie Albies 2019 Outlook: Looks To Continue Ascent Up Fantasy Ladder
6 years agoAtlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies finished his first full season as one of the top second basemen across the fantasy board. The 21-year-old slashed .261/.305/.462 while clubbing 24 home runs and driving in 72 runs. He also scored the most runs of any second baseman in the league with 105. At just five foot eight inches tall, Albies never projected as a power hitter, but his 11.5% HR/FB rate ranked seventh at his position. Arguably the most impressive stat is that he was one of three second basemen to have over a .190 ISO, with the other two being Javier Baez and Asdrubal Cabrera. It’s hard to anticipate a similar home run total for Albies as he had never hit double-digit home runs in any minor league season prior to his 2017 debut. However, he returns to bat in either the leadoff or number two spot for the reigning NL East Champion Braves, leaving plenty of opportunities for consistent production. With an ADP of 48, the budding star should provide solid early-round value if you want to invest in pitching earlier in your draft.
