Nicky Lopez Breaks Slump In Huge Way
6 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman Nicky Lopez was mired in the midst of an 0-for-20 slump when he came up to bat with a runner on in the top of the 6th inning on Wednesday. Lopez drilled a triple to right to bring in the run and eventually score himself. Two innings later, he smacked a two-run single to tie the game. It was Lopez's first multi-RBI game of his career along with the first triple of his career. Lopez started quick when he was called up, but he's recently been struggling pretty badly. That said, he's kept his strikeout rate in check at just 17%, he's walking nearly 10% of the time, and he's learning to make major league adjustments. It doesn't look like he's roster-worthy in most leagues right now, but he's worth keeping an eye on.
