Nick Solak To Contend For Second Base
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Nick Solak is a new arrival to the organization. Acquired in the Steven Souza trade from the Yankees, Solak could be the starting second baseman for Tampa Bay. Solak is the fifth-ranked second base prospect in baseball and was the Yankees eighth-best prospect, but New York thought that he was a year or so away. Solak has a .305 batting average and 22 stolen bases in 198 career minor league games and could be an upgrade for the Rays at second. The Rays were looking at a jumbled competition with as many as five players seeing time at second base during the spring. Solak will likely join fellow prospect Willy Adames to form the foundation up the middle of the infield for years to come once they both take over their respective positions.
