Mike Leake Bounces Back Against Giants
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Mike Leake tossed 6 1/3 innings of two-run baseball as the Mariners edged the Giants 3-2 Wednesday night. Leake allowed only four hits through 78 pitches as the strong outing lowered his ERA to 4.87 in the month of July. After two rough outings to begin the month, Leake has flashed some classic veteran guile en route to allowing only three runs in his last 12 1/3 innings pitched. Despite his effectiveness, manager Scott Servais has handled Leake carefully lately and is averaging only 80.75 pitches over his last four starts. Leake will eat up innings but lacks the strikeout totals that make him enticing in fantasy right now.
