San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund (shoulder) took a step forward by skating for half an hour Thursday, as per head coach David Quinn. The veteran has been limited in camp due to his shoulder ailment but was able to get a mild skate in Thursday with his club's Oct. 12 season opener versus the Vegas Golden Knights still more than two weeks away. The 31-year-old was part of the return from the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Erik Karlsson trade this offseason after posting just one goal and five points across 21 games with Pittsburgh following a trade-deadline deal from the Nashville Predators last season. The 11-year NHL veteran has posted 145 goals and 484 points across 750 career regular-season contests.--Brenton Kemp
