Calgary Flames center Mikael Backlund picked up assists on each of his team's goals in a 3-2 road loss against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. He ended the night with a plus-2 rating, a shot on goal and a hit while going 9-for-14 in the faceoff circle. The 29-year-old Swedish pivot has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, lighting the lamp just once over his first nine contests while totaling five points. The good news is that he has been even or positive in the plus/minus rating in eight of his nine outings to date, registering an impressive plus-7. The buy-low window is open for the center averaging 48.3 points per season over the past the years, but it come slamming shut soon.--Daniel Dobish
